Jimmy Johnson

Founder of Hotdog Heartbreak

&

Author of "My Son & the Hotdog Stand"

Jim was born in Charlottetown with two parents. Both of whom loved him very much, and likely still do. Growing up on the streets of Charlottetown Jim had an incredible appreciation for street food. The old man selling chestnuts roasting on an open fire, or the cracked corn from the guy that didn't care, even the odd sausage. But his infinity for a quality hotdog really began when he met his future wife. Debra was, and is, a wonderful human who Jim met while racing soap box cars professionally. He was 18 and she was also 18. From then on they were inseparable. Both Jim and Debra actually prefer mustard on their hotdogs but have always been supportive of those whom may enjoy hotdogs differently.

You're likely familiar with Jim's First hotdog stand. JJ's Fine Hotdogs. A staple business on the corner New Market and Gains Ave. from the Summer of 93 to the winter of 93. Those were the glory days of hotdog sales, you really can't say they weren't. Jim and Debra got by with the help of friends and family when the times got hard. First was the hotdog freeze in 92, freezer burn was rampant and with nowhere to turn, Jim's best friend Arnold lent him a really good freezer, said no freezer burn on the label. And Cindy, Arnolds Ex-wife, gave Jim freezer bags which also claimed similar claims as her ex-husbands freezer made.

While attending the Brightmore Academy of Fine Learning, a boarding school for troubled teens, Jim was constantly fed other handheld food, which he found to be substandard. He did however enjoy the hotdog on a stick fried with batter combo, who couldn't say no to that though. Anyway, while at school Jim really found his appreciation for Hotdogs. He had just turned 21 and was ready to make it on his own. With his highschool diploma in one hand and a pot of boiling water in the other his life started. And he never looked back, not even once.
